Our Inspiration: Resilience and Opportunity
N1 Sports Management Inc was founded by Trevor Johnston, a former semi-professional footballer who has transitioned into the professional side of the game as a national referee, OFC licensed coach, and licensed FIFA agent. He has worked extensively across Africa, Southeast Asia, and the Pacific to scout and create pathways for young players to turn professional. His own journey, shaped by the challenges of growing up during the apartheid era in South Africa, ignited a deep-seated desire to create opportunities for others.
Since settling in New Zealand, Johnston has founded the Children’s First (CR1) programme at Ngongotahā AFC. The initiative aims to remove financial barriers to football, providing gear and coaching to children from low-income backgrounds.
He has assisted the Kiribati Islands Football and Vanuatu Football Federations in referee and coach development.
His personal philosophy of resilience, forged during experiences like being the only person of colour selected for the 1998 South African Mount Everest expedition, directly influences his approach as an agent. Trevor mentors' players to believe in and achieve the seemingly impossible, turning challenges into stepping stones for success.
